About the School

Advancing postgraduate education, research and professional development since 2014.

Our profile

The School of Graduate Studies (SGS) at the University of Hargeisa was established in 2014 to coordinate and advance postgraduate education, research, and professional development.

SGS offers postgraduate study across a wide range of disciplines, including health sciences, business and management, education, law, Islamic studies, data science and applied statistics. Since its establishment, the School has supported approximately 1,897 graduates in acquiring advanced academic knowledge, research skills and professional competencies.

The School works closely with the University’s colleges, academic departments, and national and international partners to develop programmes that respond to labour-market needs and national and regional development priorities.

Postgraduate programmes include afternoon, evening and weekend schedules; the arrangements vary by programme. SGS also supports postgraduate research, academic supervision, thesis examination, curriculum development and quality assurance.

Through its academic programmes, research activities, and partnerships, SGS contributes to the University of Hargeisa’s mission of producing competent graduates, advancing knowledge, and supporting the development of Somaliland and the wider region.
